JJ Strumbel '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jonathan (JJ) Strumbel and I play basketball for Rockford High School (Rockford, MN). I was a Varsity Starter in the 2016-2017 season, a JV starter for the 2015-16 season (also a Varsity Reserve player).  I was also recently elected as a Captain for our 2017-2018 Varsity squad.  I also play for the Grassroots/AAU squad Crossfire-Schmidt (#32).

I would like to attend school to study Athletic Training and/or Sports Management with an emphasis on coaching while also being a key part of that schools basketball and (if possible) their baseball team.  I have been a dual sport athlete for many years and enjoy both.

I possess some desirable characteristics and skills:

-- I play the Center, Power Forward and Small Forward positions for my High School and Focus on the Small Forward position on my AAU teams. On occasion, I move to the Guard position for ball handling as well.  With my breadth of play, it really gives me an understanding and respect for ALL positions on the floor which in turn makes me a stronger team player.

-- I'm highly coachable. Having a father and 2 grandparents that are/were coaches of various sports has made me learn to work with high intensity coaching my entire life.  I know that one of the most important skills I can have is knowing how to listen and I do it very well.

-- I have a very strong work ethic. I spend 2-5 hours every day in the gym and/or weight room to improve my body and skills. I am also just as dedicated to my academics and will continue to take higher level courses to prepare me for college.

-- I have a high attention to detail.  I am the videographer for the JV and Varsity Football teams. I previously also did video for for Varsity basketball prior to making the JV team.
