Personal Statement
I have played the game of basketball since I was 4 years old. Ever since then my dream has been to play in college and I want to be able to achieve that more than anything. I know that it's a long process and isn't something that will just be handed to me. I'm extremely dedicated and willing to do whatever it takes when it comes to improving my game. My dad has told me since day one, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." I definitely always have that in the back of my mind and that's one of the many things that motivates me. On top of having 2-3 practices a week for my AAU team that starts as soon as the school season is over, I also make it a priority to go to the gym everyday no matter what. I shoot around 300-400 shots each day. That consists of certain drills that I do every time I go whether it's by myself or with another person. Since I constantly work on my shot, I've always been a really good shooter. I love being able to make plays not only for myself but for my teammates as well. So I'm not a selfish player by any means. I think that my assist numbers can reflect upon that and my ability to see the floor. I'm more of a combo guard that can either play the point guard or shooting guard position. I'm comfortable at each one of them and will do whatever is asked of me to do. Playing college basketball would be a dream come true and I would be absolutely blessed if I was given the opportunity. With that being said, I also know that I have to take care of my grades before that can even be considered. I try to challenge myself by taking all honors level classes so I can better prepare myself for what's to come. I maintain a 4.8 GPA which stands as 29th in my class out out 305. So I really work hard academically because I know that it can't hurt me in any way, it can only help me tremendously.
