Chet Barber '15 Recruiting Profile

      I want to be completely successful; I'm a dreamer, an entrepreneur! I believe all dreams can come true if you work hard enough for it. I want to own my own computer software engineering company. I learned at an early age that I can do anything I put my mind to. Growing up, basketball was always my second sport behind baseball, but one day while watching basketball, I said “I want to do that!” I want to play college basketball, so I'm striving every day to reach that goal. 

      What's a good team without a great leader, right? I am continually working on my leadership skills. Success is the key to greatness and that's what I want to be every day. We do everything as a team, win or lose; so together I want everyone to be strong, as a unit to lead us to any goal we want to obtain. Good isn't good enough in my case; I know that good is the enemy of great.  I need everyone to give 110% in everything we do. This game takes heart and I have my whole heart in the game. 

      What describes Chet Barber’s differences? My can do/get-it-done attitude, along with my gentle spirit and my foot work makes me different.  I'm 6'5” and 230lb and my foot work is great. Growing up, I never ever wanted to be the slowest, so I always ran as fast as I could and wanted to be quick. I always want to push myself to new limits everyday in the gym and in the classroom. My academics come first, it’s not necessarily easy, but my academics come before sports. That's what I am, is it not, a student athlete? I want my academics to be as top notch as my game is, even if it means studying longer. I believe if you do everything above and beyond what is expected, the results will always come.
