Growing up, I had a lot of support and love from my family. My mother is an exceptional athlete specifically focused on swimming, which she loves and has coached for many years. She was an All American swimmer in college. My mother taught me the importance of hard work and dedication in order to be successful and that value is something that I still hold onto to this day. She also taught me how to swim and gave me a taste for competition against other athletes. My father helped me practice a variety of recreational sports and gave me tips such as how to hold a ball, or what kind of stance I should have.
I first heard about basketball in the 5th grade as many of my classmates were talking about the sport. I immediately came home that day and asked my parents if I would be able to play. I enjoy many sports but I am passionate about the sport of basketball.
Since I began to integrate basketball into my high school career, it has really helped me understand the importance of having good grades. I have a better knowledge of what my limits are as both a student and athlete and how to keep working. I have a tall physique that also includes speed, agility, and strength.
My goal for high school is to keep my GPA to a 3.0 (out of 4.0) by the end of my senior year. For college, I plan to work diligently academically and maintain at minimum a 3.5 GPA.
