Tyler McFarland '17 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to play basketball at the highest possible level while getting a good college education.  

I have been very fortunate.  I have a great family that supports me in everything I do.  I have had teachers that have taught me the importance of critical thinking and the knowledge gained from hard work.  I have had the benefit of great coaches, who have spent countless hours helping me learn to play basketball the right way, how to be a good teammate, what it means to be tough, how to lead, etc.  

I had a great experience playing basketball at Dakota Ridge High School (5A division for state's largest schools)  in Littleton, Colorado last year.  Our team made it to the Sweet 16 my Junior and Senior seasons; as a Senior, I led the team in scoring (14.5 per game), steals (1.7 per game), free throw percentage (84%), and three pointers made (56), and was voted the team MVP; and I finished my career at 79-13, with the school record for the single season three point percentage (42.9%) and career three point percentage ( 40.5%).  This year, I have been given the opportunity to do a post grad year at New Hampton School, in New Hampshire, which has a remarkable tradition of great basketball and challenging academics.

 My good fortune motivates me to work even harder, on the court and in the classroom.  It’s my way of saying thanks to the people who have helped me so much.   Given my talent on the court, as well well as my character, work ethic, and leadership skills, I’m confident I can immediately impact a high quality basketball program.
