My name is Josiah Scarlett and my end goal in life is simple, to be successful. I am willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the goals I have set forth. I am currently a student at Burlington Township High School, graduating in June 2020. Following graduation I would like to attend college and study Criminal Justice. Growing up, I’ve always had an interest in lending a helping hand. Whether it be giving a friend a piece of advice or something as simple as holding the door for someone. Serving people just comes naturally.
Over the past nine years, I’ve developed the love for the game of basketball. Not only have I had the opportunity to play varsity for three years and become a team captain, I’ve also been apart of summer and fall leagues during my high school career. When it comes to basketball, I take pride in giving it my all. Many people have told me that my hustle and hardworking attitude are phenomenal. I would like to continue playing basketball at the next level, having the privilege to one day play overseas or accomplish my dream of playing in the NBA.
I am determined to give 110% in everything that I do. Giving up has never been an option and I’ve learned that you have to persevere, even when times get tough. I’ve never been the person to start something and not finish. My family is my motivation. My goal is to make sure that all of their debts have been paid and that they’re able to live and enjoy their life without any worries.
One thing that I’ve learned is that negativity is powerful. If you allow negativity to get to you, it will be much harder to accomplish anything. So, in spite of the numerous people that have doubted and counted me out, I choose to stay focused on my dreams and goals.
Everyone's story is different and mine is just beginning.
