Personal Statement
As a student athlete from the small but highly academic community of Los Alamos, NM, high school sports are not as popular or well covered in the media as they are for larger high school programs in large metro areas. My high school team has 4 sophomore starters, so we are building our program and I have been captain both my freshman and sophomore years. I have had to seek competitive basketball opportunities on AAU club teams 100 miles away in Albuquerque so I could get into the big NCAA certified tournaments around the western USA, show case events, and camps like Phenom 150 in San Diego, CA and Gannon Baker's national camp. I have learned to be efficient with my homework and studies given all the travel, and have maintained a 3.8 GPA, stayed involved in extracurricular activities, and worked after school.I am a hard worker, coachable and have high basketball IQ, a player that shares the ball, and knows how to push to win. I have very strong and positive relationships with my coaches and I believe that I am someone who they can trust. I would love the opportunity to play college basketball as well as succeed in the class room and go on to my goal of attending medical school. With a medical degree I hope to work as a team doctor, focusing on orthopedics. I hope to find a respectable basketball program in a rich academic environment.
