My name is Devin Llanes and I am currently a Varsity Player for Pat-Med High School. I will now be a Senior and will be starting the most important season of my basketball career. I see myself as a driven individual and an excellent team-player. I take whatever obstacle is given to me and give it 110%. There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for my team to help them become better players because there is no “I” in Team and I believe you are only as good as the players you have on your team. I also believe that by assisting my team will benefit me become a better player myself.
The passion that I have for this sport started in 5th grade; I had joined the PAL league that my friend recommended to me. What had started off just for fun, turned into a love for the sport and I knew I would want to do for the rest of my life. Basketball to me is not just a hobby, it is a life-style that I live for day in and day out.
When I am not playing for the many leagues that I am involved in, I find any reason to continue my training for the sport on my own or with my fellow teammates. I train almost 24/7 and I aspire to become the greatest player possible.
One of the greatest moments in my life that really made me take basketball even more serious was when I was in the 6th grade, during a tad awkward stage (I was stuck in between my growth spurt). I was invited to play with Danny Green from the San Antonio Spurs for a week at his summer basketball camp from a scholarship I received from the Long Island Heat League. To meet a professional player who was so down to Earth inspired me to invest everything I had into basketball.
My hope for this year is take my team to the Championships and leave a mark on Pat-Med High School when I graduate. I know with my ambition that I will attend a college that will push past my limitations and help mold me into the best NBA player.
Keep a lookout for me this year….I am on the rise.
