Personal Statement

My name is CooXooEii Black and I live on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. I am a 2015 graduate of Lander Valley High School, where I worked hard to maintain a 3.54 GPA, and I will attend Phillips Exeter Academy for a post-graduate year in 2016. I am a 2015 McDonald's All-American nominee, 2X Basketball All-State Selection, as well as the Most Outstanding Player in the West Division. In college I plan to study one of the Sciences - a subject I love. My goal is to play for a high academic school with a strong athletic program. Below are several key attributes I possess which I believe make me stand out from other recruits:

Competitiveness- I understand a lot of hard work is needed in order to succeed. The improvment I have witnessed from my freshmen year to now has been big. I also stay with my AAU basketball coach in Denver during the summer. My AAU coach gives me a workout/ training plan as well intense speed and agility drills.

Leadership- I believe everyone should be accountable to the overall success of the team. I hold my team mates to high standards; I positively encourage them and push them to be better. I make sure everyone feel confident and involved within the team. I take time to lift my team mates up during tough times.

Desire to succeed-  Growing up in an enviroment where success is rare, it is a daily struggle to overcome this mentality in order to achieve my goals and provide for my family. The more people who count me out, the harder I work. I want to be the first person from my reservation to play for a top tier college/university and serve as an inspiration for the younger kids who are still there.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
