Personal Statement
I have played both travel football as a quarterback and AAU basketball as either a shooting or point guard, since the age of five. I have consistently played at my level and the one above in both sports. I know what determination and hard work is. I train with either my school (during the school season) and with both of my AAU teams (during the AAU season). I also spend my off days at the gym or with my speed and agility trainer. I constantly push myself to become a better athlete and person.
I was a two sport varsity athlete both my freshman and sophomore year.
This year, my basketball team was ranked #7 in the Northeast by ESPN. I was voted to the 2015-2016 NHNCO All-State Basketball Division II team. My team won the NHIAA Division II State Championship and had the first undefeated season in over 22 years. These accomplishments were among the top highlights of my high school career, so far. However, it wasn’t these feats and awards that helped me grow the most as a student-athlete. It was the defeat in the championship game the year before that created a more determined and mentally tougher player. This year, I re-focused by training harder, staying focused and keeping the vision of a championship in the forefront.
I think that I have the wisdom to know that the next two years will be much more challenging in high school. Not only will teams and players be ready for us, but as an added bonus, we are moving up to Division I next year. My junior and senior years should create tougher challenges but I pride myself on staying focus and putting in the hard work so that I am in the best position to succeed. I’m determined to play at the college level and know that my hard work ethic and resilience will assist me in seeing this vision become a reality. I am looking for a college program that will be a great fit for me athletically as well as academically.
I look forward to adding value to my next team.
