Winning the New Mexico 5A State Championship this year is something I'm most proud of so far. We really had to dig deep during the quarterfinal game that we won in OT 81 to 80. The memories of the entire tournament, but especially the Championship game is something I'll carry with me forever! I feel like I really learned a lot about myself and what it means to be a team player during the State Tournament.
Winning the Championship was especially sweet after having to sit out during the State Tournament in 2016 due to a fractured 5th metatarsal in my right foot. Being sidelined and not being able to help my team taught me a lot about dedication and determination. After we went out in the quarterfinal game in 2016 I was determined that once my foot healed, I would do everything possible to come back stronger and stay healthy!
I have been fortunate to have been part of an amazing basketball program at Roswell High, which has 4 State Championships in the last 9 years. I have also had the good fortune to be coached by one of the best in the Nation (Coach Brit Cooper). Some of the things I've learned during the last three years is teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and determination. I feel that some of my best attributes are my work-ethic and leadership skills. These are the attributes I feel will help me make a difference on your team. While I'm excited about the coming season and my Senior year, I look forward to finding a college where I can excel both athletically and academically.
