Personal Statement
My name is Zane Thompson, a junior at Bethlehem Central High School. I have played basketball my whole life, and hope to continue playing through college. As a player and teammate, my main objective is to win. I try to get my teammates involved as much as I can and be unselfish with the ball, however when I have the shot I do not hesitate to take it. This past year, my coach's concern was my ability to defend. Through hard work both during and after practice, I was able to turn my defensive game around and make it one of the better assets to my game, which I am very proud of. On the offensive side, I excel at shooting from both the perimeter and mid-range, and also at creating/keeping space to get an uncontested shot off. Driving to the rim and finishing strong is something I have been working at most this off season, as well as strengthening my handles and polishing my shooting skills(form, off the dribble). I play everyday, and work as hard as I can to better my game for the upcoming varsity season. I am very excited to see what's in store for my collegiate basketball experience and can't wait to get to work. Academically during my high school career, I have obtained a 3.3 GPA, and will work to better that score over the next year and a half. I currently am a coach in the unified basketball league, which is a program designed to let kids with disabilities have a chance to play on a team, since they usually get left out. We teach them the rules, how to dribble, shoot, defend, run an offense, etc. It has so far been a very awesome and satisfying experience, and I am very glad I had this opportunity. In college, I want to major in either Sports Management or Sports Marketing. I am eager to start the recruiting process, and can't wait to move on to this next big journey in my life.
