Personal Statement

All my life I have worked towards being able to make a living playing the game of basketball. I set small reachable goals for myself to pave the way. It all started freshman year of high school that I set myself to go straight to varsity. I got my homework done then went straight to the court till it was time to call it a day. I consistently worked to better myself off and on the court. When it came to tryouts i blew by so many people it was inevitable that i would be one of the core players on the team. Freshman year there were games I started had okay games or off games but great moments. But i still couldn't say I had a great overall game. I had a total of 35 points the whole season out of 14 games. Then my sophomore year came up and i wanted to change and make an impact. I came to tryouts did my thing and waited to see if coach would want me back. I made it again after a rough freshman season. I worked my behind off and as always put my blood sweat and tears in the game. At the rate I was going i could say i had a lot of okay games other than off games. I finished the season with 76 total points. I doubled the amount of points i scored my freshman season and also was awarded most improved player of the year. I took this and put fuel to my fire and came at my junior season with full force. At this point my position on the team was reserved and I couldn't make tryouts for educational duties I had to take care of. But all the work from freshman year to now had shown.I finished my junior season averaging double digits nearly consecutive double doubles almost every game. Junior year i finished with a total of 149 points in the season almost doubled again. My senior year the team went 11-3 and went all the way to the 3rd round in the playoffs. My whole point of bringing up my improvement is that only time will get me better. That separates me from many good candidates my ability to improve drastically in short periods of time. I am like a human sponge because everything from then and now coaches have brought to my attention and things they said I could improve on I did. I made so much with the little I have. I could only imagine what I would do if i had more. College basketball is that "more" that i would use to improve myself time and time again. My track record makes me different because i hold the potential to be a great player. It all just comes down to who wants a player that has the ability to grow themselves and the team. That is exactly why i was a junior team captain and why i should be recruited.
