Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Cameron Wormack and I go to Blythewood High School in Columbia, South Carolina. Basketball has been a huge part of my life from day one, and I strive to compete and improve my game daily. From the first time I stepped on a basketball court as a five year old, I knew basketball was not something I wanted to give up soon. Over the years, basketball has become even more important to me, and has continued to stay within my rigorous everyday schedule.

As much as I love the sport, I understand that school will always come first. Currently, I hold a 3.8 GPA, and am ninth in my junior class that contains 458 students. I have been invited to the National Beta Club, never missed a Honor Roll throughout my academic career, and I am enrolled in several Honors and AP level classes at my school. I plan on continuing my strong academic efforts by always pushing myself to my limits on and off the court.

Athletically, I have played varsity on my high school basketball team since I tried out my freshmen year. Starting out on varsity as a freshman was challenging, but I accepted this responsibility, and earned the "Best Newcomer Award" at the Team Banquet when I was in the ninth grade. As the years have gone by, my rebounding and scoring averages have steadily risen. In the last year on this team I averaged around 12 points and 6 rebounds. On my AAU team, Central Carolina Force, I average 22 points and 11 rebounds. Through my many years of basketball, the game has taught me that skill alone does not make anyone a great player and will not get them to the next level, but their effort and heart can.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
