Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Steven Bennett. I'm a student athlete and junior
at Hanahan High School. I was born in Charleston, SC and have lived there all my life. My goals as a student athlete are to play college basketball and major in Sports and Fitness Administration.
I have played basketball since fifth grade. On every team, I work the hardest to be the most successful. I think teamwork, leadership, dedication, hard work, and a strong IQ is important to play the court. I'm a very coachable player on any team.
I started playing competitively in sixth grade at Daniel Island Middle School. Our team unfortunately had a terrible season but made it to the playoffs. We ended up taking the championship trophy and I took home the tournament MVP. In seventh grade, I decided if I want play in college; I need to play high school ball. I went to the tryouts and made the JV team. Being on the JV team gave me great experience. The last year of middle school came and basketball season was closer than I thought. I practiced on my dribbling and shooting. As a result, I started on JV in eighth grade year. We were very unsuccessful but I average eight points and three assists a game. When I entered high school, I wanted to be on the Varsity squad to play competitive. I made the team but honestly I was a bench warmer. Our program did good in the season. We won region champs and clinched a playoff spot. Our first playoff game was against Socastee and merged a victory. We then drove to Columbia to play against Airport. Unfortunately we lost and our season ended
Off the court, I'm a successful student. I put my grades as my first priority. I am an A&B student who wants to get straight A's. I participate in Beta club and HOSA
