Personal Statement

My name is Devin Session, I recently graduated from Ranger College, a Juco located in Ranger, Texas.  While at Ranger College I achieved my Associates of Science in General Studies and also played for the Ranger Basketball program.  For the Ranger Basketball program I started Shooting Guard for the Junior Varsity for 1 year.  I have 3.5 years of eligibility remaining.  GPA 3.2.

Info about me and my college career:

My college career started out originally at Texas Wesleyan in Fall of 2017 where I attended classes and was a part of the men's basketball program.  I didn't not play for the team do to academic hold for I did not meet NAIA SAT academic requirements.  My Guardian withdrew me from college after my 1st semester in order to save eligibility and for financial reasons.

During the Winter/Spring semester after withdrawing from Texas Wesleyan, I went into a basketball strength and conditioning program in Endicott, New York.  After returning home I was contacted through NCSA by Ranger College where I committed to go play basketball.  I was an academic hold my first semester of college at Ranger my freshman year do to my transfer status.  I was a part of the men's basketball program and on the JV squad, practice with the Varsity, but didn't play in any games during this first year. At Ranger for my freshman year, I started a fresh degree plan where I was able to achieve the honor of being on the Dean's List for both the 1st and 2nd semesters.

Completing my associates degree and having the privilege to play college basketball has been the highlight of my life so far.  It is my life goal to continue my education and move onto another chapter in my life while writing a new chapter of basketball as well.  I know coaches hear kids/players all the time say they want to make it to the NBA, the difference with me is that I know I am going to make it.  My life hasn't been the greatest, especially with losing my biggest fan and supporter, my mom in December 2019.  The driving force behind my mind set is that little voice in the back of my head, my mom, "Son if you want it go get it, it won't be easy, persevere and don't let distractions get in you way".  No matter if I choose to ever stop playing basketball and didn't achieve the goal of the NBA I know my mom is smiling down and proud of me... but giving up basketball is not a choice for me.  My drive is unlike any other player on your roster.

I am a 6'3 combo guard that has been told I am not the right build, not the right body type, not tall enough....until they see my game.  I have a sharp eye for great passing opportunities, a quick shot, great basketball knowledge, and unwavering love and passion for the game.  Although I consider myself a great shooter, my number one asset I bring to any team is my basketball IQ.  I eat, sleep, and live basketball, it is my recipe for my grind.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,

Devin Session

  • Devin Session a 6'2 200 lb 2017 prospect of Lake Worth (TX), is a nice player with scholarship potential.Devin has great size position and should continue to take advantage of that in addition to possessing length that is an extremely reliable asset to individual and team defense. The prospect is a terrific ball handler proving to be a constant threat on offense. Devin is a fantastic distributor that was one of the best passers all camp. We would like to see continued work passing with either hand and creating misdirection to the defense. The Player shoots the ball with a high level of consistency with time and space. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day in a variety of circumstances from all three levels (floaters, mid range, three both off the screens and off the bounce.Devin has a very good shot selection and does a solid job of knowing what shots are in space and in rhythm. College coaches will be happy with this prospects selection. The prospect can consiste ntly finish at the basket effectively using either hand both through great contact and against size. The prospect defends the ball and help side very effectively proving to be a very good asset defensively. The talent has tremendous strength and has a college ready frame but should continue to get stronger to really develop their body for the next level going against fully developed opponentsand has a great frame to really build on.Devin has a great motor, changes ends of the floor well transl ating to collegeand is incredibly tough that all levels of coaches will covet. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quartile of hoopers. Devin understands the nuances of the game and has a high basketball IQ that allows playing above their current level. Defensively we would like to see continued improvement both on and off the ball in addition to always seeing ball and man. We would emphasize staying lower on both ends of the court. In addition, we would like you to continue learning how to play without the ball as most players only have the ball a max of 10% of the game (even less if you have ball stoppers on your team). We are excited to monitor this prospect's development in the future and would like to see continued development in all areas we rated as needing improvement to fully maximize potential. ScoutsFocus and our college coaching staff believes Devin has scholarship poten tial with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 1; 2; 3. AAU Team: . Attended ScoutsFocus Elite 80 DALLAS 2 Camp on April 1-2, 2017. 2017 TX ScoutsFocus State Ranking: 18 2017 National ScoutsFocus Ranking (if applicable)*: 90 Top 100 Overall (Regardless of Class): GPA/SAT/ACT(If Given): 3.0,850

  • Acheived invite through the evaluations from Scout Focus Elite 80 (Dallas) ESPN: Reggie Rankin Showcase/Pick-up style camp. The team I was put on won 2 games and lost 2. This camp was great do to the physical play that took place. This camp was more challenging than the last Scouts Focus I attended. I learned some things about my game and about who I am as a player.
