My name is Devin Session, I recently graduated from Ranger College, a Juco located in Ranger, Texas. While at Ranger College I achieved my Associates of Science in General Studies and also played for the Ranger Basketball program. For the Ranger Basketball program I started Shooting Guard for the Junior Varsity for 1 year. I have 3.5 years of eligibility remaining. GPA 3.2.
Info about me and my college career:
My college career started out originally at Texas Wesleyan in Fall of 2017 where I attended classes and was a part of the men's basketball program. I didn't not play for the team do to academic hold for I did not meet NAIA SAT academic requirements. My Guardian withdrew me from college after my 1st semester in order to save eligibility and for financial reasons.
During the Winter/Spring semester after withdrawing from Texas Wesleyan, I went into a basketball strength and conditioning program in Endicott, New York. After returning home I was contacted through NCSA by Ranger College where I committed to go play basketball. I was an academic hold my first semester of college at Ranger my freshman year do to my transfer status. I was a part of the men's basketball program and on the JV squad, practice with the Varsity, but didn't play in any games during this first year. At Ranger for my freshman year, I started a fresh degree plan where I was able to achieve the honor of being on the Dean's List for both the 1st and 2nd semesters.
Completing my associates degree and having the privilege to play college basketball has been the highlight of my life so far. It is my life goal to continue my education and move onto another chapter in my life while writing a new chapter of basketball as well. I know coaches hear kids/players all the time say they want to make it to the NBA, the difference with me is that I know I am going to make it. My life hasn't been the greatest, especially with losing my biggest fan and supporter, my mom in December 2019. The driving force behind my mind set is that little voice in the back of my head, my mom, "Son if you want it go get it, it won't be easy, persevere and don't let distractions get in you way". No matter if I choose to ever stop playing basketball and didn't achieve the goal of the NBA I know my mom is smiling down and proud of me... but giving up basketball is not a choice for me. My drive is unlike any other player on your roster.
I am a 6'3 combo guard that has been told I am not the right build, not the right body type, not tall enough....until they see my game. I have a sharp eye for great passing opportunities, a quick shot, great basketball knowledge, and unwavering love and passion for the game. Although I consider myself a great shooter, my number one asset I bring to any team is my basketball IQ. I eat, sleep, and live basketball, it is my recipe for my grind.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
Devin Session
