Personal Statement
I think the most important thing about me is my work ethic.I have always wanted to play college basketball but I knew I had some obstacles to overcome. When I started middle school, I had a I.E.P (individual education program). I was determined to overcome it because I knew it would hinder my dreams of playing college basketball.By the middle of the 8th grade, I had tested out of the program. Now as a 9th grader, I have all honors classes and I am a member of the Junior National Honor Society. Academics and basketball are equally important to me.To everyone out there who may be viewing this profile- I want you to know that I am determined to grow as a person and as a basketball player and I plan on having the best game possible and to use that to open doors in life such as college and my education that would otherwise be closed. .On the court I refuse to be outworked;I take the same approach and apply that to everything else in my life including school, family, and religion. Everyday I spend several hours improving my game including any before school even starts. I try to find weaknesses in my game and improve on them daily. I know my defense and going left while penetrating can improve and I am putting in the effort to improve both. Before school, I set up the schools shooting machine and put up at least 400 shots and 100 free throws. I also condition with the football team by doing box training, cross fit, and agility drills. About 2 days a week, I work with a trainer (Terry Boykin point guard APSU 1990-1994) who specializes in point guard specific drills. When I am not working with coaches and trainers, I am in a places such as school gyms, community centers, or on an outside court working on my game. In the summer, I am on two AAU teams. I was recently invited to the top 60 work in Nashville and am looking forward to the experience I know I will get there. I have also attended the Don Eddy 1 on 1 camp in Texas where I was voted the camp's top[ performer. You have my promise that I will give you my all and refuse to let you down if i am given the opportunity to prove myself. Hard work and grinding is my way of life and I have a high basketball IQ that will only grow as I grow as a person and as a player..
