Personal Statement
It has always been my life long dream to play college level basketball. I have been playing basketball since I was 5 years old. Basketball is one of the most important things in my life.I fell in love with the game at a very young age of 5, and ever since then you can not keep a ball away from me. I have had unbelievable support from my family, but mostly from my parents. They have been there every step of the way, from the long drives, to the heart breakers, and the "thats my son moments". I am very thankful to have them to support me.
Although basketball is very important to me, i have been raised to know that grades always come first. I am top 15% in my class and it takes a lot of hard work, but it will all pay off. I have been placed in "gifted and talented" class and honors class as a young boy. I would say i'm a pretty smart young man. Now i am succeeding in my AP classes as a high school student. I understand that playing basketball is a privilage and i will do whatever it takes to get the court.
As i was coming up I always played point guard during YMCA, Jr. High School, and AAU. When i entered high school i was switched to shooting guard because of my shooting ability. I came my freshman year and went straight to play with Junior Varsity. I was very excited and blessed, but i was not satisfied, i believed I was a varsity player from the beginning. I was a freshman starting on junior varsity scoring 12 points a game. I always knew i was a decent player and wanted to play at the next level, but this is when i realized that i really have some potential to be great. I have been starting shooting guard for Conroe high school since my sophomore year. Although i play shooting guard at school during all AAU seasons i have been the starting point guard.
I am now entering my senior year with a huge leadership role. We are projected to be a playoff contender this upcoming year. We have had ups and downs as a program but with my leadership and our relentless attitude we will be just fine this year. At the end of the season i know i will be able to look at myself and say that i left everything on the floor. I am a very energetic player. Also a very good shooter, i am ran off of screens, and when we need a big shot i know i am getting the ball. This upcoming year i will be shooting the ball more off the dribble and taking the ball to the hole. I know to become a better player you have to be more than one dementional, and i have improved my game and stepped up.
I would be a great addition to college teams out there, I am a hard worker, a smart kid, and a good basketball player. I am a well shooter, i can handle the ball, and i have great court vision. My basketball IQ is pretty high but theres always space to improve. I also have great leadership abilities. My dedication to the game is unbelievable, i believe that there is always room to improve, and theres always one more left in myself for "one more". Also I know that grades come before basketball, basketball is a privilage.
