Basketball is more than a game to me; it's been a classroom for life. It's where I've learned to turn raw talent into skills, became a leader instead of a follower, accepted my weakness, excelled at my strengths, turned my single efforts into team spirit, been a brother to my teammates, became a better listener, learned how to market myself, and most of all acquired determination and purpose. So, as I have learned how to balance academics off the courts, I've learned life lessons on the court. I was raised grades and an education come before sports, so never expected to learn so much on the court.
I was also taught, "It's not how hard you fall, it's how fast you get up." I've might not be the tallest guy on the court or the most skilled, but my determination and "will" to achieve my goals out weigh any shortcomings I might have. I'm the kind of person that spends his free time at the gym shooting a hundred three point shots or practicing drills, rather than playing video games or living on my cell phone. BOTTOM LINE: GIVING UP ISN'T AN OPTION.
