As a young kid I wanted to play basketball so much so that I was disappointed when I missed signing up for it as a young 7 year old, and when I did it was a dream come true. I am half Puerto Rican and half Nigerian and now in school in Alexandria, Virginia. I played club basketball in Puerto Rico and led my team to win five national championships and in 2012, I co-captained my former high school's, Robinson High School, junior varsity team and won the league's championship undefeated averaging 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and won the MVP award. Also I played AAU and five-star basketball tournaments in the U.S. In 2012, I played the Maryland Invitational Tournament in Washington D.C. with my Summer AAU team, the Puerto Rico Playmakers (PRP) and got the Notable Performer Award during the Championship game against Washington DC Assault Team.
During the last three Summers, I played with the Puerto Rico Junior National Teams undefeated U15 in 2012 and won the Gold Medal, FIBA CentroBasket in El Salvador, with the U16 in 2013 during FIBA Americas Championship in Uruguay and qualified for FIBA World Basketball Cup Championship in Summer, 2014 in Dubai together with USA, Argentina and Canada representing the Americas. Also in 2013, as a 15 years old I played with the Puerto Rico Junior Team U17 and won the Silver Medal in FIBA CentroBasket and qualified for FIBA U18 Americas Championship in Colorado Springs. This Summer represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship and came 5th in the Americas. Also, represented Puerto Rico Junior National Team at the FIBA U17 World Basketball Championship in Dubai and came 5th in the world.
Playing basketball has helped instill discipline in me and in forming strong character which I apply to other things such as my academics in school. While my grades are good but I must continue to work hard to improve them as I believe that the sky is the limit in both my studies and basketball. I do hope to study business because of my interest in mathematics.
With my basketball, I have transformed into a small forward and can also play all the five positions. I do have a high basketball I.Q. with excellent ball passing ability and court vision and peripheral awareness. My mid-range game is good and with my strength I am a robust and powerful competitor and a great defensive player and need to continue to improve my ball handling and shooting. I very much believe that I can bring my skills and talents to any major division one school and help build the necessary team spirit because I am very coachable and humble and I am a good leader as well as a follower with a high sense of discipline, respect, loyalty and honor as was taught me at home and now been emphasized in school.
