My Name is Steven Eng, I am about 5 ft 10 and I weigh about 155 lbs. I am from Elon, North Carolina USA, but I have lived in Dublin Ireland and also in Guangzhou China. During both stays I lived in each for about a year and a half. I have many things that make me unique and I have a lot of experiences most people my age do not get to experience. While living overseas I have gained new perspectives on things and I have had to adjust to a lot of changes and overcome some challenges. These experiences have helped me grow as a student-athlete and have helped shape me into who I am now. One unique experience about playing overseas is that it is FIBA rules, and in some ways a much different play style to the game. I think having this experience makes me more versatile and able to adapt easier. Through playing basketball I have learned a lot about myself. I learned that when I want something really bad then I can achieve it if I put my mind to it and work hard. I am extremely dedicated to the game of basketball as I get up at around 5:30 am to go get a workout in before school. I have a great work ethic and a relentless drive to get better. This upcoming season I will spend my senior year at one of the most prestigious high schools in Oak Hill Academy (VA).
I have been playing basketball competitively for about eight years now and I have a huge passion for the game and it is what drives me to be the best person I can be. Basketball means so much to me and it is a goal and dream of mine to play at the collegiate level. I am a pretty good ball handler, passer, finisher, and I am a great shooter especially from three. I work really hard and smart all of the time in order to try and reach my potential and hopefully achieve my goals of playing at the next level. I am very coachable and take instruction well. I will do whatever a coach asks of me and I will try to be the hardest worker and the very best player and leader that I can be for the team. My competitive nature drives me to do whatever it takes to win and succeed. Simply put basketball is really important to me and I think I could be a good addition to a college team.
Off the court, I have taken several rigorous IB courses and am currently taking three college credit classes. My top choice for a major is sports management. Aside from my studies I have helped coach middle school basketball.
