Personal Statement
I would be an asset to any team and am willing to play for any team if I am given an opportunity. As a freshman, I was a role player and played decent minutes on the varsity team which included 7 talented seniors. I earned my spot after a few games in the season when the varsity team was struggling to meet the goals they had set. Our varsity coach noticed my hard work during practice and during games so he decided to move me up. After losing a number of seniors last year, I will be relied on more this year. My sophomore year I started varsity and averaged double figures in points as well as 5 assists and rebounds a game, and was recognized as 2nd team All Conference. My junior year I led the team in scoring and rebounding, with 18 and 8, as well as contributing 5 assists a game. I was a unanimous 1st team All Conference selection as well as an All-State honorable mention.
No matter where I go or what I am doing, I am always the hardest working person there. I have greater than average athletic ability and coordination. I also have an incredible knack for learning something quickly. Whether it is a new play, offensive set-up, or defense I will study and practice hard to learn the play. Along with my good athletic ability, I have been known to be a great influential leader and role model. I have always been one of the greater athletes and students in my age group and they usually look to me for guidance off the court or a big play on the court. I also have two younger brothers and many friends that are younger than me and I realize that they all look up to me and that I need to set a great example for them so I can help lead them down the correct path for life. Finally, I am what most would call an excellent student. I am at the top of my class with a 4.0 GPA and focus a majority of my time to my studies. I know that my hard work in school makes me an incredible student-athlete and hopefully appealing to many schools for both athletics and academics.
Ever since I was a kid, basketball has always been a part of my life. My dad has been the assistant coach at Almond-Bancroft School for all of my life. I have 4 brothers and together we spend countless hours in the gym. I always just wanted to grow up and play basketball and I am determined to fulfill the promise I made to myself and achieve my goals.
