Personal Statement
Hello my name is Dillon Hall. My athletic training and competition started at the age of six with gymnastics after I watched the summer Olympics and proceeded to do a flip off the couch and landed on the coffee table, feet firmly planted, shattering it to pieces. During my 9 years of rigorous gymnastic training, I always looked forward to summer diving at the local swim club for a fun-filled 6 weeks. Diving was a natural fit since I liked to spin and flip and could not wait until summer to be able to dive.
My journey as a gymnast ended in January my freshman year and I was excited to be able to transfer my time and effort into pursuing my passion for diving. I have been a club diver for the past year and a half and work hard to be competitive with the divers who have been diving for as many years as I did competitive gymnastics. I believe I have the talent and determination to make a positive impact on a college dive team.
Last summer as the volunteer assistant coach for my summer club, I learned how to support the head coach, partake my knowledge of diving through example, drills, encouraging with patience and excitement for the sport of diving. This summer I have been officially hired as the assistant coach and look forward to working with the divers during the morning and training for Nationals at my club practice in the afternoon.
Throughout the years balancing sports training with academics has been challenging and one of my greatest strengths. I work hard to maintain a high GPA and this has been one of my high school goals. I am undecided on what might be my major in college – I like Mathematics and have interests in creative writing, working with children, education, and special needs.
Being able to attend college along with being a member of the dive team is my ultimate goal.
Thank you for looking at my profile.
