Personal Statement
My name is Kirabo Reed and have had a golf club in my hand since I was 2 years old. I have played competitively since I was 10 years old. I want to take my love for the game and play collegiate golf and my dream is to eventually move on to the PGA. Even though golf is an individual sport, I am a team player and am supportive (also offer support to) of my teammates. I was part of the first Jr. PGA league in 2012 and our California team won the Championship! This is where I first was able to experience golf as a team sport. Since my freshman year, I have played number 1 on my high school team. In my sophomore year, my team won the league championship tournament and qualified for the North Coast Section Championship. Now that my junior year season is underway, of the six matches played so far, I have been match medalist 3 times and team medalist 5 times.
I have played in many tournaments ranging from local tournaments to the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Championships held in Pinehurst, NC. I have also played in AmateurGolf.com tournaments and started playing in FCWT tournaments in 2015.
Academically, I have a 3.5 GPA and have been an Honor Roll student since my freshman year. My parents have always said that education is first and have always been supportive of my love for golf. They have also instilled a high work ethic which I know is required as a student-athlete.
I feel all of these experiences make me a well-rounded player and person. I am very coachable and want the challenge to take my game to the collegiate level. I know I will be a good addition to any college team.
Thank you for your time.
