Personal Statement
Family. It is the only thing I have to base myself off of. I realized as I’ve gone through life that I act just like my family. For example I’m always the first to school band concerts to help set up, and last to leave to help take down and make sure everyone has a ride home. I get that from my brother, he did it every time, and I stayed with him the whole time. Speaking of my brother, him and I wore matching plaid shorts, and won the Big Person Little Person tournament, which is the coolest moment of my golfing career so far.
I started playing golf the summer between my 8th and 9th grade years. I wanted to play a high school sport, and my brother knew the coach of the golf team and said I should try it because he is a cool teacher. Unfortunately, my freshman year of high school I didn’t make the team. I shot a 115 and a 117, numbers I can’t even think about now. I did however get the opportunity to practice with the team and work on my game with the coaches to prepare me for the next season. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Throughout high school I’ve realized the importance of studying and applying myself in everything I do. My final goal academically in high school is to get at least a 3.0 accumulative GPA with at least a 950 on the SAT. Once I get into college I hope to expand my knowledge of golf and academics at a higher level. Although, before grades my personal characteristics is what I focus on most. I have a strong sense of integrity, and a good attitude. Especially on the golf course honesty is huge for a sport that is self officiated. I always have a good attitude on and off the course. After a good or bad shot, my club will go one place, in the bag. Even on the range I don’t use profanity or inappropriate actions. Golf is a gentleman’s game for a reason, it’s meant for the respectful and honest.
