Ever since I picked up a golf club at 12 years of age, I was immediately hooked. I’ve been seen on the course when the sun rises and just before the sun sets. Although, I had passion for this sport in my younger years I also was a multi sport athlete. In my freshman and sophomore year I ran track and cross country at a competitive level. It was not until my junior year until I finally became completely committed to the sport. Ever since my freshman year I have played on the varsity golf team at Trumbull High School. I love the team and the competitive atmosphere of junior golf.
Currently, I am 5’ 11” and 140 pounds and attend Trumbull High School as part of the class of 2018. While playing golf in high school I was able to obtain 2 varsity letters in my Freshman and Sophomore year. In my Sophomore year I started consistently for the varsity golf team, but it was not until the summer when I hit my peak of my golfing career (so far). In the McDermott Junior Invitation I shot a 78 finishing T-2 in tough conditions and in the Keney Park Junior Open I shot a 75 as a personal best finishing T-3. Those tournaments helped me qualify for the Northern Junior Open, which unfortunately I was not able to play in. In the offseason (unfortunately, it snows a lot in Connecticut so I haven’t had the opportunity to play on the golf course often) I have continued to improve my game by working with a golf fitness trainer and golf swing coach in the simulator.
Not only do I love competition on the course, I enjoy competing in the classroom! I take numerous AP and honors courses and my GPA is 4.15 weighted/3.70 unweighted (as of the first semester of Junior year). Because of my grades I have made the honor role in every marking period since freshman year. I’m also involved in many extracurriculars and in community service too.
I am extremely interested in playing golf at the collegiate level. One of the my many goals this year is to find a college that is right for me where I can play golf at a high level. I feel that I am picky when it comes to where I will be spending the next 4 years of my life. Some of my preferences include the university’s location. I prefer a school in the south to lower northeast regions. Also, I intend on majoring in Engineering or Business so it would be great if a college had my planned field of study. Lastly, the university must have a strong academic program with many opportunities for internships. My parents and I will be going on college visits throughout Pennsylvania in April.
