Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Greek and I began playing the game of golf at a very young age. I have always worked to improve my game and began participating in junior tournaments before I was ten years old. I plan to continue playing in as many tournaments as I am able. My current handicap is 0 and I am ranked as one of the top 40 golfers in my class in the state of Florida. I have participated in 16 Florida Junior Tour events so far and have placed in the top 30 nine times and in the top 15 six times. Last summer I also qualified for the 2015 Boys' Junior Amateur Championship. My high school team, or Viera High School, enjoyed success throughout the 2014/2015 season too, as we won our conference tournament, placed second in our district and regional tournaments, and placed 9th in the class 3A state tournament. I enjoyed some success as an individual in these tournaments as well, as I took 3rd in our Cape Coast Conference tournament and took 4th in our Regional tournament. I averaged 76 over the course of the postseason and was also awarded the honor of all conference first team.
Academically I have an unweighted GPA of 3.92 and a weighted GPA of 4.08. My goal is to maintain a high GPA in order to increase opportunities for myself at the college level. I currently have a score of a 29/36 on the ACT and 1360/1600 on the SAT. My main goal throughout high school is to work to keep high grades and work to excel on the golf course as these two factors can help enable me to attain a better college experience. This would then take me one step closer to getting a chance at my dream of playing golf professionally.
