Hello, my name is Joseph Sagi. I am currently in 11th grade and go to Mariner high school. I played baseball most of my life until I tried out for the golf team in 7th grade. From that point I was playing both golf and baseball, and I was able to make it work. I made the golf team my first time trying out and then took off with it. I was playing travel baseball, and then I stopped playing. I knew there was something in golf that I didn't have in baseball. There was a want to succeed more in golf then there was in baseball.
I went into high school my first year and made the varsity team, and we went to regional's. Then, my sophomore year, my team wasn't as good as the last years team, and I went to regional's by myself, but couldn't make it to states. My junior year is when things started clicking. Although I didn't make it to states, I now had my game together and was able to post lower rounds than was able to before. I shot many rounds in the thirties for nine hole matches, and at the All Conference meet, I posted a 79 and was able to make first team. Baseball was still a big part of my life, but now am going to go in a straight path for golf. I have an intense drive to succeed , and I will do anything to get to a point where I can succeed. I practice every single day, whether it's putting, chipping, pounding balls at the driving range, or just going out and playing, golf is a huge part of my life. My strongest part of my game is my mid-irons. I feel very confident with them in my hands. I can also get off of the tee box pretty well, and have a good short game. There is always room for improvement, and by me practicing every day, I feel like that is possible.
In addition to my effort in athletics, I work very hard in the classroom. I have a 4.0 GPA or higher, and continue to succeed in the classroom everyday. I try and push myself as much as possible, and I do this by taking Advanced Placement classes, also known as AP classes. These classes are there for me to get myself ready for college. Of course with having a good GPA, there comes many opportunities. I am a part of National Honor Society, and was also apart of National Junior Honor Society in middle school. Of course NHS is on a higher level than NJHS, and I am happy to be apart of it, and being able to help the community. I try and volunteer as much as I can. I have to do a lot of volunteering for college scholarships as well as with NHS. Some of these things include roadside cleanups, to help the environment, or even helping out with junior golf clinics at the golf course. I want to do anything and everything to get me ready for college. When it comes to the classroom, everyone has their perks and what they are good at. I feel like I am good at English and Math. I feel like I can interpret the material very well, and can show it on tests and quizzes. For instance, in my math and english classes, I have gotten A’s for the first part of the year. I also take Biomedical Sciences, as I am trying to become a doctor in the future. I want to be an anesthesiologist in my future, and am trying to take classes where I can learn about medicine as anesthesiologists take part in medicine, that will help me succeed at a higher level in college.
Besides just sports and school, I also like to have a good time with friends. I play basketball, or any other sports that most kids play with my friends. Also, I enjoy fishing, and do it a lot. I enjoy being out on the water even if it's not a good day. Overall, I just being outside and enjoying the Florida weather. This contributes to me because without the outdoors, I would be very upset as I do everything outside. I spend a lot of time with my family. We go out to dinner or do other activities that we all enjoy. I also work on the weekends at the golf course. I am fully committed to doing things for this and making it possible.
