Personal Statement

I believe I would make a good candidate for your team because I am good role model to others on and off the golf course. I am able to take charge and become team leader if necessary. I keep a level head during competition and am able to play well under pressure. I'm the type of player who is able to get along with everyone but isn't afraid to call a shot during the game. I have maintained a 3.9 GPA or higher throughout my high school, along with a 4.4 weighted GPA from my honors classes. Teachers say I am a delight to have in class and am able to work by myself or with others. I play multiple sports, have been captain of the golf and tennis teams for the last two years, and bowl in a yearly league for which I am youth president. I hope you give me the opportunity to become a part of your college team.

  • In this 6900 yard course today, the wind was a force to be reckon with. I shot a 38-37 for a total of 75 on this course. My drives were really solid, instead of hitting irons off the tee for the smart play, I felt more comfortable with my driver and was able to make the big play and have shorter second shots on the par 4's and able to make a move on par 5's. My putting was solid, the greens were rolling pretty quick so being below the hole was my objective. I'm happy with the way I played today, was able to not let the wind affect my game and play the best I could with the conditions, there is always room for improvement though. All in all a good day of golf.

  • 7/14/14 to 7/14/14
  • This course playing 7000 yards today, in the dry windy conditions, I fired a 76. With the pins in all tough location, playing towards the middle of the green was my top priority. I shot 39-37 for my nines. My irons were solid, along with my putting, short game has always been my top priority during practice, I was able to make the good up and downs and my irons were solid enough to where I wouldn't have to rely on short game. All in all, I played pretty well, I know I can play better, a few tweeks here and there but nothing major. A very good day of golf.

  • 6/30/14 to 6/30/14
  • During the round, the heat and wind levels kept rising. With the tight 6900 yard course, and the wind, keeping it in play was a smart move for the day. For the nines, I fired a 38-37 for a 75 total. I was happy with my play, shaky start, but was able to come back strong and finish a solid round. I finished the tournament in first place with a 5 stroke gap between first and second. My short game was extremely well, able to make the big putts when needed and irons were consistent and spot on. I'm happy with the way I played.

  • Class 2A State Finals
  • 10/28/13 to 10/30/13
  • This 3-day high school state tournament was the ultimate test for high school golfers. The first day is a practice round for the 96 competitors to get familiar with the course. Weather being different every single day, practice round was cold, when the first round came along the very next day, it was windy. I didn't play as well as I hoped but still good in these harsh conditions, I shot 41-41 nines for an 82 total, knowing the course a bit better, I came into the second and final round with confidence and better weather conditions, perfectly sunny, barely any wind and the chance to shoot low. Starting off on the back nine, I fired a 3 under 34, making the turn, I was getting to the most difficult holes on the course, with the troubles of the nine, I finished with a 41 on the front to shoot a 3 over par 75. Finishing the tournament with a total of 157 and tied for 17th out of 96 players. I am happy with my scores with the harsh environments, my team finished in 12th place out of the 16 teams and were one of the few public schools in all of the class tournaments.
  • Camp/Event
  • Class 2A Region 3 Championship
  • 10/22/13 to 10/22/13
  • The Regional held at 7 Rivers was holding 9 schools, 54 players in the field, with the course flooded from the constant rain, I shot a 77 and tied for 2nd, 2 strokes behind 1st place. Consistent 39-38 nines. My team and I won the region and advanced the Class 2A State Finals.
  • Camp/Event
  • Class 2A District 7 Championship
  • 10/15/13 to 10/15/13
  • The District 2A-7 Championship was between 5 schools located at Plantation Golf and Country Club, I finished the day with a 3 over par 75, 39-36 nines finishing 2nd out of the 25 competitors, my team and I finished 1st winning by 12 shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • Citrus County High School Golf Championship
  • 10/08/13 to 10/08/13
  • The County Championship is held every year before districts between the schools of Crystal River, Lecanto and Citrus high schools. With the rainy conditions, I shot a 75 finishing 1st between 19 other competitors. 38-37 nines. My team, the Crystal River Pirates finished 1st winning the event by 38 shots.
