Personal Statement
When I was born, my parents would strap me into the golf cart and my dad would practice his game, I have enjoyed the game ever since. I have grown up, with everything being around golf. My dad started me out when I was very young and always took me to the course when he would go to practice. When I was three years old, I chipped in for the very first time. That was when I knew that I could play this game for the rest of my life. The feeling I had when I saw that ball drop into the bottom of the cup was a feeling that everybody loves. As I continued to practice my game, I saw many improvements, but I have yet to quit working because I know golf is a game where there is always room to improve. That is why I like it so much. After every round I always look back and find spots where I can improve my game and lower my scores.
Over the years as I have competed in tournaments throughout the summer, I realized how important the mental side of the game is. When I was younger my mental aspect to the game kept me from playing the best I could. I knew that could not continue. I started to focus on the good points on every shot. Whether it was good contact or the correct line, I stopped worrying about how short it was or how off target the ball may have been. It was the positives thoughts that helped me forget the bad shots and ultimately has helped me become the best player I can be.
Throughout the summer I dedicate my time not only to my game, but to other people's game. The past 4 years I have had the opportunity to help with my local Junior Golf Program at my club. I enjoy giving back to my community and helping the local junior golfer better their skills. I know that I was once that kid that wanted to be the next best golfer. I couldn't have done that without the help from the community. Volunteering there has helped me become a better person because you have to have patience when it comes to teaching the youth.
I am really looking forward to improving my game even more and taking my game to the next level. Playing competitive golf in the college level has been my goal for my golf game and I am looking forward to see where it takes me.
