Personal Statement
Before moving to the college level, my top goal is to lead our High School team to the state tournament this year. Our team missed qualifying by two strokes last year, and while I had the opportunity to play at state as an individual, we did not achieve our team goal. In high school golf and I believe in college golf, it is team first. I am proud to represent the Edwardsville Tigers and I will be even more proud to wear my college colors and demonstrate the character associated with being part of that team.
I am looking for a university and golf program preferably located in the Southeast, Mid-South, Southwest or Midwest, and I plan to study business and/or accounting. Both academics and golf will be important to me during college, but I need to earn a degree that will position me for the rest of my life. None of us know how much we will continue to improve in golf, and I would love to take golf beyond college, but I know I need my college degree first.
I am looking for a college golf coach who will challenge us to be better golfers and make good grades, but really challenge us to be better people. And I really would like a college coach who can help me improve my swing and golf game. I have a home made golf swing and have not had much swing advice. I know that I still have a tremendous amount of upside in my game and I am confident that the right person can help me get to the next level of golf.
I love being part of a golf team, both the individual challenges and especially the camaraderie and experiences of winning (and losing) as a team. The high school golf season is too short, just over two months, and then we go back to playing as individuals. I'm really looking forward to having year round teammates, with a common goal of winning our conference, and achieving the highest level possible.
I believe that if a college golf coach gets to know me, then they will want me on their team. I have competed with some of the best players throughout the midwest, and I am confident that my golf skills are equal to the top players. I need to be a little more consistent, but I have the skills to be a top college golfer. While I know my golf will speak for itself, I am a great teammate and mentor for others on the team. I have been leading my high school team since I was a sophomore, and look forward to the opportunity to help lead at the college ranks.
