Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Anderson and I am currently a 16 year Senior at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL. I’ve played a variety of sports over the years, but golf has always been my passion. What I enjoy most about golf is that it challenges me to keep improving each time I play.
I started playing in tournaments at the age 6 and have played for many different organizations such as AJGA, MAJGT, IJGA, JGAA, High School, Junior PGA, U.S. Kids, and the Putt Chip Drive. Some of my accomplishments include:
- 2nd place finish at Illinois High School Association State Golf Tournament on Oct. 14 and 15, 2016
- Set new school records in 2016: Best State finals finish in school history, lowest 9 hole score of 30, lowest 18/9 hole average 36.2
- Captain of Varsity Golf team for three consecutive years
- Voted MVP by team for two consecutive years ( senior year not in yet)
- IHSA Regional 1st place 72 at White Deer Run, Oct 2016
- IHSA Sectional 1st place 68 at Old Orchard, Oct 2016
- ESCC Conference 2nd place 74 at Pine Meadow, Sept 2016
- Ivanhoe Classic 1st place 69 at Ivanhoe Sept 2016
- Played #1 and 1st place for IL PGA Junior League during 2016 season August 2016
- Pepsi Little Peoples Tournament 74, 74 6th place June 2016
- MAJGT Second City Classic 73, 72 2nd place June 2016
- IJGA Countryside 70, 1st place June 2016
- IHSA Regional champion in 2015 at age 15 (junior year) with a score of 71
- Tied the school record at age 14 (sophomore year) with a score of 33 on 9 holes in 2014
- Placed 1st in the Putt Chip and Drive contest to represent my region at the 1st PGA Putt chip and drive at Medinah Country Club to open the 2012 Ryder Cup
- Numerous top 5’s in the other organizations with several 1st place wins over the years
Playing college golf and going to a university with a strong academic base will be the next stepping stone towards my goal of playing on the PGA tour.
