My name is Braden Drook and I am a Junior at Marion High School in Marion, Indiana. I played Number 1 last year as a Sophomore. I have been playing golf for roughly 4 years now. My collegiate goals are very simple: to become the best golfer to my abilities while still maintaining good grades to help ensure my career in the future. I get A's and B's and have a GPA of 4.2 with Honors and AP courses. I keep pushing myself each and everyday to become better than the day before. I have come a long way in the past 4 years and have improved dramatically!! When I started out, I was shooting in the low-100's to high-90's. Now, just 4 years later, I am shooting in the mid to low 70's consistently. I didn't have a good scoring season my Freshman year only averaging an 83 for all the 18 holes matches and roughly a 43 for the 9 hole matches. I placed 7th at Conference and eligible for all-conference with an 82. I placed 6th at Sectionals with an 82 and I as well as my team advanced to Regionals. I had a very poor effort at Regionals and fell short of my goals. But I look forward to hopefully having the same opportunity next year.
I am currently a member of the Indiana Golf Foundation and am participating in several of their tournaments over the summer. In last summers events, I shot mainly in the low 80's and a few times in the high-70's. I then began focusing on the Grant County Amateur Tournament where I placed 5th out of 40 golfers. With rounds of 74-80-73-73, I improved drastically from the my previous tournaments that summer. I plan on working hard this winter to lower my scores even more by the time spring hits next season as I plan to have a great season. I have committed all of my time and effort to becoming an excellent golfer and am training very hard to become the very best i can be.
I am a student of the game and have been receiving lessons this summer from Indiana Golf Association, PGA Professional and Indiana Golf Foundation Hall of Fame Inductee Jim Gallagher Senior as his top student. He has placed many of his students in division I golfing programs and a few on the PGA/LPGA Tour. He put both of his sons, Jim Gallagher Jr. and Jeff, on the PGA Tour and his daughter Jackie Gallagher on the LPGA Tour. Jim Gallagher Jr. played on the PGA Tour, the Ryder Cup team, and is now playing on the Champions Tour.
I understand that my scores aren't as low as some of the players on your team but as the scores at the end of the summer show, I am working very hard to lower my scores to acquire a scholarship from a college. I never stop practicing or grinding no matter how good i may become because i think you can always become better.
Will you please forward any and all information available or contact me with any news concerning me and my collegiate career with you as I would love to be affiliated with your program.
Thank you so much for your time and effort as i look forward to hearing from you soon,
