Personal Statement
In college, I hope to achieve many goals including playing golf, maintaining my academic excellence, and obtaining a college degree. I am a good candidate because I'm an extremely hard worker and enjoy playing the game. My game has improved every year, since beginning in 6th grade, through many hours of practice. By working out this winter at Novus Strength Training and taking lessons with Aaron Harrell, I have more control and consistency in my swing and it is producing scores that have been lowering gradually for the past two years. My Freshman year I scored in the low to mid 90's, My Sophomore year I scored in the mid 80's, and this year I averaged in the low 80's but shot in the 70's a few times after battling a mid-season back injury. My team finished 2nd in Sectionals, 3rd in Regionals (in what many considered the toughest Regional in the state), and finished 11th at the IHSAA State Finals. It was a great experience and I'm excited about the opportunity to go back next year! What sets me apart from other candidates is I stay out of trouble and I stay focused on what's important; my grades, golf, and my connection with God. Also, I have a very strong motor and I will always be looking for ways to better myself not only as a golfer but as a person.
