Personal Statement

The first time I played golf was in a best shot at a family reunion when I was nine years old. The following summer I joined the junior golf program at my local country club and have been in love with the game ever since.

Qualifying and playing with my team in the Iowa High School state golf tournament last year as a freshman has been the highlight of my high school career to this point. Playing with the best in the state confirmed for me that I have the ability to play with anyone, but it also showed me that there is a lot of competition out there, and that there is plenty of room for improvement. I have always been the type of person who strives for perfection, and enjoys competing against the best. Those characteristics are what drive me to excel both in the classroom and on the golf course.

I am looking for a school that will allow me the opportunity to not only compete in golf, but also one that will allow me to reach my academic goals. As a three-sport athlete, I am no stranger to competition, and am constantly studying and working every day to become best student-athlete I can. I know I have the ability to play golf at the collegiate level, and have no doubt that I can provide the type of leadership, character, and attitude that will make an immediate impact on your program.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • 4A State Tournament
  • 10/05/18 to 10/06/18
  • 69 (-2) - 3rd place overall. We were only able to play 1 day due to being rained out on Saturday. A little disappointing that I did not have a chance to get back out on Saturday and push for the title, but played very well on Friday. I could have very easily been 5 or 6 under if I could have holed a few more putts.
  • Camp/Event
  • Des Moines Men’s City Championship
  • 8/17/18 to 8/19/18
  • 71-71-73(-1)-T6 out of 113– Played consistently and produced some solid scores, left a few out there however which kept me from playing better.
  • Camp/Event
  • Rider Invitational

  • Camp/Event
  • JR Tour Team/ Stroke

  • 73 (+1)-2nd place-- Played pretty well with a couple of lip-outs, or it could have been better.
  • Camp/Event
  • Cog Hill Championship
  • 7/21/18 to 7/22/18
  • 68-69-1st Place (-5)-- Played really solid off the tee which allowed me to score pretty well in some rainy and windy conditions. My chipping was also really good which allowed me to keep good rounds going.
  • Camp/Event
  • Jr. Midsummer Classic
  • 7/16/18 to 7/17/18
  • 75-74-T-5th place of 43-- I struck the ball very well this tournament but my putter prevented me from scoring better. I hit 27/36 greens for the tournament.

  • 7/09/18 to 7/10/18
  • 75-77-T-11th of 40-- Did not the hit the ball very well but putted well. Played the 18th hole at five over par for the two days which hurt my scores.
  • Camp/Event
  • 43rd Boys Jr PGA Qualifier
  • 6/11/18 to 6/11/18
  • 74 (+3)-- Played well on the front shooting one under but struggled on the back to grind out a 74 to qualify for the Iowa Junior PGA Championship July 9-10.
  • Camp/Event
  • Iowa JR Spring #2

  • Camp/Event
  • IHSAA State Meet 4A
  • 10/06/17 to 10/07/17

  • Camp/Event
  • Indianola Invitational Golf Meet
  • 8/18/17 to 8/18/17
  • 1st place with an even par 71. I started out bogeying 3 of my first 5 holes but battled back to post a solid score to earn medalist at my second high school meet of the year.
  • Camp/Event
  • Des Moines Roosevelt Invitational Tournament
  • 8/17/17 to 8/17/17
  • T-3rd with a 76- The winds were blowing at 15-20 mph all day which made scoring difficult. This was my first high school meet of my junior year and my ball striking was not very good on this day. Course is a par 72.
  • Camp/Event
  • Des Moines Boy's City Tournament
  • 8/07/17 to 8/09/17
  • 72-70-70 -- 1st place out of 70 kids. It is a par 70 course with a 106 slope and 65.5 rating. The greens were rolling at about an 8 which made it difficult to hole many putts because they were so slow and beat up. My ball striking was good this week.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT- College Prep Series at Iowa State
  • 7/29/17 to 7/30/17
  • 79-78-- T-4th place 6830 yards 74.1/140 slope. Greens were rolling between a 12 and 13 making putting a challenge with a lot of undulation.
  • Camp/Event
  • Iowa Junior Tour 2 Person Team Event and Stroke Play
  • 7/24/17 to 7/24/17
  • Shot an even par 72, finished Tied for Second, 1 stroke behind the winner. 6,669 Yards (72.0/125). High School baseball has been over for 2 weeks now, and my game is really starting to pick up.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT - Cog Hill Junior Championship
  • 7/22/17 to 7/23/17
  • Shot 71, 1 under par on day 1, and then shot 38 on the front nine the second day before they called the tournament on account of rain. They only used 27 holes, and I finished 2 over par in a tie for 8th place. I struggled a bit with the slowness of the greens on day 2, but rolled the ball well on day 1.
  • Camp/Event
  • 42nd PGA Junior Qualifier - Copper Creek
  • 6/26/17 to 6/26/17
  • Shot a 4 over 75. Par 71 - 6,338 Yards (70.7 Rating/123 Slope). Tied for 4th out of 30 players, advancing to the Sectional round which will take place July 10-11.

  • U.S. Junior Amateur Sectional Qualifier
  • 6/19/17 to 6/19/17
  • 76 - Par 71 6,895 Yards. (73.7 Rating/126 Slope) Struggled a bit off the tee which didn't allow for a lot of birdie opportunities.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT Iowa Kickoff
  • 6/10/17 to 6/11/17
  • 78 - 87, good for 5th place. Par 71 6,650 yards. (71.5 Rating/140 Slope) 25-30 MPH Winds and Temperatures in the Mid 90's each day.
  • Camp/Event
  • HJGT TPC Deere Run Jr Classic
  • 4/15/17 to 4/16/17
  • 87-89. Par 71 6983 yards. (74.8 Rating/142 Slope) My first tournament of the year, and it showed. It was quite windy, and my feel for the greens was just not where it was at the end of the fall last year. It was good to see the areas of my game I needed to improve on.

  • Roosevelt vs DSM Hoover and DSM North in a Triangular

  • Camp/Event
  • Dual Meet with Des Moines Lincoln
  • 35 (-1) - 1st Place - Medalist - Played very well, and could have been better with a double bogey on the 7th hole keeping me from going even lower.
  • Camp/Event
  • Ames Invitational
  • 76 (+4). 5th place out of 96 players. My ball striking was very good, but could not get my putter going. I lipped out 5 putts, including one for eagle.
  • Camp/Event
  • Cedar Rapids Washington Invitational
  • 75 (+4). 7th place out of 108 players. There were quite a few D-I committed players in the field, some of which I finished better than, and some of which finished better than me. I hit the ball pretty well all day, but had a couple errant shots that got me out of position on a couple holes.
  • Camp/Event
  • Marshalltown Invitational
  • 70 (even). 3rd place out of 60 players. I did not have my best ball striking day, but putted pretty well. It was my first time playing this course, and if I had a chance to play it again, I would have played a couple holes a little differently.
  • Camp/Event

  • 72 (+1) - 5th Place out of 60 players. It was a pretty consistent day all around, but was not able to hole as many putts as I would have liked.

  • Camp/Event

  • 68 (-3) - 2nd place out of 66 players, 1 behind the medalist. I hit the ball pretty well all day, and was able to make a few putts, which helped me to score well.
  • Camp/Event
  • District Qualifier
  • 71 (-1) - 3rd place. I played very consistently all day from tee to green. The team and I all qualified for State, as our team placed 3rd at Districts as well!
