Personal Statement

My name is Kade Meineka. I am a 16 year old Junior at Concordia High School that is all about golf. If I had the energy or time, I would golf all day everyday 24/7. My College goals are to be apart of a championship team, and to develop relationships with coaches from many different colleges. I want to develop my game so that I can play at the best of my ability for as long as I can play golf. I am a good candidate for your team because I am a fast learner and I want to learn as much as I can. When I get on the golf course, I am a sponge. I try to soak up all the new knowledge I hear on a daily basis. My head has a lot of room for all the knowledge I need to know to strive at the sport that I was thinking to do for the rest of my life. I have a 3.7 GPA as a Junior. My main focus is excelling at golf, and developing new skills to improve my game intensively.

  • 7/17/17 to 7/18/17
  • This was my last tournament of the year. I finally got some conditions that I played well in and played fairly decent. My first round score was a 76. It seemed like I could do very little wrong and I was striking the ball well. There were just a few shots and putts that got away from me which is where the bogeys came from. My second round score was a 77. The second round was a little up and down. I had a lot of good shots but right after I would birdie one hole, I would come back and bogey the next. I did hold it together and ended up with a decent finish in the tournament.

  • Junior Match Play Tournament
  • 6/12/17 to 6/15/17
  • This was also not a good day for me to play golf competitively. I ended up shooting an 88 and missing yet another cut by 3 shots. My 100 yard and in game was atrocious and my putting was also not something to be pleased with. I just couldn't figure out the green speed. I also played with 2 guys that were playing terribly which didn't help me play good at all. I'll be looking to bounce back at the Junior Amateur and hopefully play more consistently.
  • Camp/Event
  • Missouri Amateur Championship Qualifier
  • 6/06/17 to 6/06/17
  • This was not a very good day for me to play golf competitively. I ended up with an 85 after all the struggling. I missed the cut by two not even qualifying for the actual tournament. It was my first true test of fast greens and tight fairways and ig wasn't up for the task. Now I know how I have to play to compete so it was a good learning experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 Class 1 State Golf Championship
  • 5/15/17 to 5/16/17
  • I played solid both days but I still want some shots back. I was 3 over going into my last hole on Monday and took an 8. Still ended up shooting a 79. Then on Tuesday I had a lot more solid round with no doubles but a couples 3 putts that I would like to have back. I ended up with a 78 on Tuesday. I took 6th place out of 92 Golfers earning All State Honors the the first time in my High School career. I have one year left and have my sites in taking it all next year.
  • Camp/Event
  • Tri City Country Club- Club Championship
  • 8/10/16 to 9/18/16
  • I played great and got into the Championship Match by beating 3 great golfers but then falling short in the Championship Match by losing on the 20th hole. I shot 75(+3) in every round so overall I was very pleased with how I played.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 Junior Match Play Championship
  • 6/12/16 to 7/16/16
  • I shot 75(+5) to get into the Match Play portion but did not play well in my first Match Play Match. I just couldn't find my swing and Kerry Maguire beat me in 12 holes. Short game was struggling and just couldn't get any putts to drop.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 Class 1 Missouri State Championship
  • This was my second year of state and I was still a little nervous but I was getting a feel for the State Competition. I shot 88(+17) which was bad but the conditions were not great. We had over 3 inches of rain so we only had a one day state. I had All-State locked in if I could just stay par or 1 over but I imploded. All the rain we had split the day up so we had to play 4 holes the second day to finish our round from the day before. I shot more over par on those 4 holes than I did the 14 holes the day before. I still managed to pull out 21st place and move 17 spots up from my freshman year. My goals for my Junior year are top 5 in state or possibly a win if I play well enough.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Class 1 State Tournament
  • I shot 93(+21) and 87(+15) with a total of 180. It was my first year of state and I was really nervous so did not play all that well. I played about my average for that season but I was progressing nicely over the course of that season and expected to get in the top 20. I ended up getting 38th which is not bad for a nervous freshman if you ask me. I had new goals to set for the next year in state.
