Dawson Huff '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Dawson Huff and I am a 5’ 11’ Senior from Nixa High School located in Nixa, MO.  I am an athlete that is very interested in playing golf at the collegiate level.  Over the years, I have had the opportunity to try many different sports.  I played football for 10 years and enjoyed my time advancing and learning more every year.  Last spring I played golf for the first time for the Nixa Junior Varsity team and fell in love with the sport.  So much so that I decided to leave football and dedicate my time and effort towards advancing my golf game.   

Last summer I attended several local golf tournaments to increase my experience at the competitive level.  When I was not in a tournament, I spent my time on the course working to improve my swing, chipping and putting skills.  Last year I averaged a score of 95.  This season, I am averaging a 78 at practices and tournaments.  I know I can continue to improve my game and I am motivated to grow as an athlete and teammate.  Being in sports has taught me how to be committed to my teammates, work towards a common goal and manage my time between sports, academics and friendships.

At school, it is important to me to achieve a high level of learning and maintain a competitive GPA.  I am a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Sources of Strength.  I am a tutor at my school and help students with Spanish during our dedicated STAR time.

I look forward to attending a college where I can pursue my dream of playing golf at the next level, be challenged academically and create friendships and memories that will last for years to come.
