I have grown up playing golf with my grandfather and father since I could walk, literally since I could drag a golf club down the fairway. My grandfather did not follow his dream to continue his golf career beyond the recreational level, so he has been instrumental in encouraging me to practice until I see results. My father chose tennis over golf and although he has a couple state titles to show for it, a part of him wishes he had made golf his first choice. These two, along with the rest of my family, continue to be extremely supportive as I continue to work on my game.
It was when I fell short in qualifying for Varsity as an eighth grader that I discovered I had the confidence and talent to play this sport at a high level if I just put the work in. To this point, the highlight of my competitive golfing career is placing eighth individually in the state tournament as a sophomore, while my team finished second. Even though I was privileged enough to experience some success as a freshman, being recognized as a sophomore on an individual basis was gratifying.
In addition to golf, I also play varsity basketball. Academically, I am a two-year Academic Letter recipient, proving I have the strong work ethic, character, and leadership skills necessary to compete at the college level, both on and off the course. I look forward to finding a program that allows me to continue to prosper both academically and athletically.
