June 2016Personal Statement
I was born in Durban, South Africa and I moved to Raleigh, NC in 2014 when my parents relocated. I joined the school golf team in my freshman year and I qualified for the State tournament that year. In 2015 I again qualified for the State tournament and this year (2016) I finished T5 and made the NCISAA 2A All State Team with scores of 76 and 74 in the finals.
I am the captain of my high school golf team. My responsibilities include the motivation and encouragement of the other team members and together with the coach I assist with the player roster and seedings. In 2015 I received the school 'Eagle' award for sportsmanship and good character. In 2016 I was recognized as the outstanding athlete for golf.
I have done well academically despite the change in school systems. My annual GPA for the 2015/2016 school year is 4.38. I am a member of the National Honor Society and I received the award for Outstanding Achievement in AP Chemistry.
I enjoy the outdoors and my other interests are finishing and hiking. I am also an budding 'investor' and have a small portfolio that I have created with my savings. I plan to study a business degree. This summer I am working at the local university golf course.
I would love to play golf at college level. I have no particular preference as to the size or the setting of the college campus. I am hard working and diligent, with and 'easy going' nature. I am well liked by my peers, coaches and teachers.
