I have had five major moves in my life. Each one entailing a fresh start, difficult challenges, and new perspectives. I feel that with each move I have grown as a person, whether that be in knowledge, compassion, or determination. Knowing the importance of humility and character, to show compassion towards other people’s losses and triumphs, and to have the strength and determination to work hard and stay true to one’s self. I feel that these characteristics can all be expressed through the game of golf. This may be why I was consciously, but somewhat subconsciously, drawn to the sport.
I really became interested in golf through my last major move, 4 1/2 years ago. It has been during this period where I have found my passion to work hard, and test my strengths in the game of golf. And now, reaching the end of another chapter in my life, I realize that I want to continue working hard and testing myself by playing, and hopefully striving, at the collegiate level. Not only is it my goal to strive on the course, but to also strive in the classroom.
My main academic goal through the remainder of high school is to graduate valedictorian or salutatorian. In college, I want to continue pursuing top grades and progress in knowledge in hopes to graduate with honors. This is why I am looking for a university that want students to be successful as a student and an athlete. I feel that I have the work-ethic and heart to be as triumphant as I want to be in both aspects of college.
