Personal Statement
I am a Graduating Senior at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana . I started playing the game of golf when I was around the age of 4. My grandfather who passed away 7 years ago gave me my first set of clubs. Ever since I first felt that grip in my hand, I haven't let go. Golf has had a huge impact on my short life. I've competed in many Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) events, TarHeel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) events, along with some American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events. I've played in many HJGT events all over the country, I've placed well in many of them. My 18 hole scoring average currently is 77.5 which in the next couple of months I hope to lower. Every day is an opportunity to get better or worse, so everyday I'm either playing golf, hitting balls in my back yard or putting in my living room. I will work as hard as I can to accomplish my goal of playing collegiate golf and then going on to play professionally.
Throughout my elementary school and high school career I maintained a 90 average and was a member of the NJHS, National Junior Honor Society. School comes first in my family, if I don't get my homework done then I can't play golf until it is done. I've always been interested in sport science and biology so if the golf doesn't work out I will strive for another career, physical therapy. My academics is the most important part of my high school years and will continue to be throughout my college years. When looking for a school I first look at academics and then athletics, it's the way I was raised the way I am going to continue to be.
