Personal Statement

My name is Trysten Rawls and I live in Haworth, Oklahoma. I am seventeen years old and will be a senior in the upcoming school year at Haworth High School, where I have attended school since kindergarden. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA.

I love all kinds of sports. I have played baseball for 12 years and basketball for 5 years. Football is not offered at Haworth schools, but if it were I am sure that I would've played.

I lost interest in baseball and basketball and was at a loss at what I wanted to do, friends of mine wanted me to join the golf team at school, but I quickly told them no, however, I decided to give it a try and I really enjoyed the sport. I have been playing golf for three years now and practice at least four days a week.

Sports have always played an important part in my life. I like to hunt, fish, shoot skeet with my friends, but golf is definitely the sport for me. I made my first hole in 1 November 1, 2012, at the Idabel Country Club and won 1st place. My average score is a 72.

During the last three years since I have started playing golf, I have played in atleast 150 tournaments, placed in about 130 of them, 1st in about 50 or 60. My lowest tournament score came last summer at Oak Grove Golf Course in New Boston, Texas. Which was a 64 a round of eight under par. I also shot my lowest score a few weeks ago at Idabel Country Club. A 63 while playing with some friends.

I have had a few lessons with a golf instructor, but mostly have taught myself to play golf. Its's challenging and very frustrating, but when I finish a game, I can hardly wait to play the next game to improve my skills and become a better player.

My plans for the future are to continue my eduacation, attend a college that has a good sports program, then study dentistry.

A golf schlorship would give me the opportunity to help with my education and still play the sport that I have come to love. I want to continue to improve my game, playing as much as possible and hopefully play professional golf one day.
