Jake Van Hooser '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jake Van Hooser and I am an aspiring collegiate golfer. I know that I have an edge over my competitors because I know how to outwork them. I am constantly working on my game in every aspect and when I'm not on the course, I am in the gym.  I know my best golf lies ahead of me because in my collegiate career I will focus solely on golf and academics.  I have played football as well as golf throughout high school.  Playing football and being All-Conference my Junior season has given me confidence in my athletic abilities and I aspire to prove myself even more in the colegiate level as a top-notch athlete.  Being a dual sport athlete has also taught me things about myself that I might not have learned through focusing solely on golf over the last few years.   I have learned what my limits are training, how hard I can push myself, and how to be the best teammate and captain possible. In the classroom, I am the same way. I attend one of the most academically challenging  High Schools in my region and I am in the upper part of my class with a 3.3 GPA. I am very proud to have also earned Headmaster's Honor Roll in each of my three years in High School and plan on doing even better my senior year. I look forward to the recruiting process because I know that I am a bit of a wild-card as I have not had many big wins or articles written about me.  However, what I do have is a very consistent golf game that continues to get better each and every day.   I have big plans for myself in the future athletically, as well as academically,  and I hope to find the right school with the coach that works with me, and allows me to achieve my goals as well as his goals for the team.
