Personal Statement
My dream is to play Division I college golf. I am the ultimate competitor, and no matter what situation, I do everything in my power to win.
I grew up playing every sport including football, basketball, lacrosse, high jump, and ski racing. In high jump, I was the 2010 State and Regional champion for my age division; in doing so, I qualified for Nationals. I continued to pursue basketball until my freshman year of high school, when I turned my focus completely to golf. I do continue to ski race and will be the captain of my high school team this winter.
My golf game has steadily improved from freshman year. I have worked with my swing coach, Scott Watkins, building my game from the ground up, effectually growing solid fundamentals in all facets of the game. Through this work and my physical growth (both natural and from working out), I have developed a powerful and explosive swing, while keeping it very neutral, allowing me to hit a variety of shots. The strengths of my game are in my length, touch, and the ability to creatively visualize my shots.
Some things I am working on are: consistency, mental mindset and focus. For me, these things go hand-in-hand. The sharper my mental game, the less disparity I see in my shots. I have been working very hard this summer on my mental game, and beginning to pay off. My last ten tournament rounds combine for (-1): (72,72,69,74,71,72, 72, 73, 71,72) as of September 2, 2015.
