Personal Statement
In the future, I would like to attend a college with a good academic reputation that also has a strong athletic program. I am interested in two areas and have not decided at this time which I would prefer to pursue. I love the outdoors and I am interested in forest products and business. I would prefer to go to school in the Southeast or Midwest but I would consider other areas. I am interested in playing golf in college.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for a team because I am coachable and I have a strong desire to improve my game. Growing up in a small town and in a small, private school, I have been playing many sports since I was four years old. I enjoy being a part of a team, taking instruction from my coaches, and going the extra mile to become better. I am often moved between positions because I am not afraid to take on a challenge. I have always been able to relate even to coaches that others had problems relating to.
The most important thing that I believe makes me stand out is that I do not give up. For instance, I have been working out every week day since the end of football season to make sure that I am ready for the next season. At times, there are only two of us in the weight room but we are faithful and committed to being stronger and better next time. Golf lets me compete with my last best score. It forces me to think about the smallest details and make adjustments that will lower my score.
When I want to improve, I don't stop until I reach my goal. This applies to athletics and academics. I have worked hard over the past two years to bring my grades up to the level they are today and I am continuing to work to improve. I hope to start taking some dual credit classes next year and I know that I will have to work even harder to make the kind of grades that I need. I am willing to do it though because I know that taking those classes will make me better prepared for college.
