My passion for golf started twelve years ago with my dad. I never rode in the golf cart because I couldn't wait to make my next shot. As I started to play in tournaments, I found I loved the competitive atmosphere. I was hooked! I did have obstacles along the way, my family lived in Ohio. Please don't get me wrong, I love Ohio, but how can you practice golf with 2 feet of snow on the ground. I needed to find a way to practice year-round. I managed to locate an indoor driving range so I could practice every day after school and weekends.
In 2014 my family moved to Texas. I brought from Ohio a list of goals I was bound to achieve during my high school golf career. I achieved some of those in 2015 during my freshman year. I made varsity top five, low score of 69, my 3rd hole-in-one and my team placed second at the Districts 3 - 6A tournament. In 2016 during my sophomore year, I made varsity position 1, my team placed first at the Districts 3 - 6A tournament and I was Player of the Year. As for tournaments outside of high school, I first place medalist in two tournaments. At the Eaton Invitational I shot a two day total of even par and at the TJGT Tierra Verde Back to School Classic I shot 72-73. With the start of my junior year in 2017, I again made varsity position 1. At the Bart Granger Memorial Tournament, with a field of 52 schools, I shot 72-72-69 coming in 11th place. I followed that by breaking a school record for best 9 holes score of 31, 4 under par, at the Bill Wallace Memorial Tournament of Champions. I finished overall 5th place with a score of 73-72. I finished my Junior year with my team taking 1st at District's and I won player of the year, for the second year in a row.
My high school academic goal is to achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher, currently I have a 3.7. Playing on the golf team has improved my leadership skills on the course and in the classroom. My goal is to play college golf and study Business, Marketing. Again, I want to complete my courses with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
For me golf is not just a game, it's a road map to a successful college career and future. It's about continually challenging myself and pushing beyond my comfort zone, not making excuses, but always taking responsibility for my own development and performance. Being loyal and trustworthy shows my willingness to support the team effort, trusting myself and the efforts of others, which builds team morale.
