Personal Statement
I have been a student of the game of golf since I was 6 years old. I would love to play collegiate golf at a great school where I can compete in golf and have a strong educational experience. I have actively played the Utah PGA Junior Golf and the Utah Junior Golf Association events for the past 6 years. I started varsity on my high school team as a Freshman, was top 10 in region, and finished honorable mention All State with a 77 and 78. As a Sophomore, I was also All Region, Second Team All State and helped my High School to a 3rd place finish at state by shooting a 75 and 73. As a Junior, I had a stroke average of 74, was All Region (6th) and lead my team to a tie for first place in the Region Championship with a 1 over 72. I lead my team to a 7th place finish at State. As a senior, I was 1st team all Region with a 69 scoring average and Medalist winner twice. I shot 74 and 72 at State and finished 5th overall individually to achieve 1st Team All State honors.
I maintain a 3.9 GPA through my first 2.5 years of High School and am taking Honors classes this year to help me prepare for the rigors of academic life in college. I will be taking the Kaplan ACT Prep Class this fall to help prepare me for success on the ACT. I am one of 5 children and have learned the value of hard work, daily practice and dedication. I work at a municipal course just a mile a way from my home which provides me the opportunity to save for my future, practice on a daily basis and interact with all kinds of golfers. I also get to hit a lot of balls and putt and chip every day. I also know that college golf will provide me an opportunity to earn a degree to help prepare me for a career away from golf one day.
