Personal Statement
I am 17 years old and started golf at the age 8. I had always enjoyed the sport but I didn't find a passion for it until my eighth grade year. Since then I have grown to love and respect this game. About two years ago I would get very frustrated with myself. I have learned over those two years that in order to score, you need to be mentally strong and take what you are given.
Throughout my life I have always loved sports. I played football, baseball, basketball and golf when I was young. I soon realized that my two passions were golf and basketball. Unfortunately, I failed to make the Junior high basketball team, all three years being the final man cut. This is when I decided to quit basketball and focus on my golf game. Since then I have dropped my handicap from about a 9 to a 1.
In ninth grade I realized that I really wanted to play golf at the collegiate level. I have worked my tail off to shave strokes off of my game. I work really hard on and off the course. In school I have a 3.7 GPA and a 22 ACT score. I am going to retake the ACT in September. I know that without schooling it is hard to be successful. In college I plan on going into medicine. I am not exactly sure what field yet, but I am leaning more towards sports medicine if golf doesn't work out. I am in a college Sports Medicine class and will have the credit once this school year is over.
I love the amazing game of golf. I love the ups and downs and playing competitively. Team golf is my favorite type of golf. The reason I say that is because I get to be coached and try to become better and I can have lots of fun with my team mates. Being a part of a team is the best part of high school golf.
