Personal Statement
I am excited to play college golf because I want to ultimately end up on the PGA tour and the first step towards this is playing and succeeding in college golf. I not only want to obtain a college degree to help me succeed in life but I also strive to have the abilities to play at the college level and help myself and my team win many titles for my school. Golf as an individual sport has taught me how to concentrate on my goals and preserver over any size obstacles. Golf as a team sport has taken my excitement to an even higher level which only makes me want to play for a college program even more. Golf has taught me that nothing comes easy and with hard work and dedication you can achieve your goals. I know that playing college golf and maintaining excellent grades in college will not be easy and that I will have to work hard to succeed in both. But when you have dreams you fight to obtain them and I will not ever stop fighting so I can succeed in both life and golf. Playing college golf means everything to me. I started looking at colleges and following the golf teams many years ago which only pushed me to work harder to become better. The feeling you get when you are competing and staying positive even in the most difficult situations is what has helped me not only in golf but with life challenges as well. I love to practice and be up at the course as much as I can be. I love spending time working on my swing and different shots on the range as well as around the greens. Perfect practice makes perfect play! When I am not at school or doing homework or piano I am practicing, watching or learning more about the game of golf. During the summer months I am at the course from early in the morning until late at night practicing, playing 18, or hanging out with my friends of all ages. During the school year grades come first so I always try to do well in school so I have time after school to practice and play as long as the weather is good. When the weather isn’t good or it is dark out I then practice at home hitting balls out back, hitting out of the garage in the rain or hitting into the net with the heater on in the garage when there is snow. I want to continue doing this into college as it will be the best time of my life being part of a college team. The relationships I have built so far in life have been wonderful but to have the opportunity to obtain my dream and make life long relationships playing college golf – that is priceless! I strive to be a team leader, a supportive teammate both on and off the course. I like to help others in school and at the course and I will be the first one at practice as well as the last one to leave everyday not only on mandatory practice days. I am ready to work hard to achieve the ultimate dream and I think once you talk with me you will want to have me be a part of your team.
Why college golf? Because I know it is important to have a college education and degree and what better than to have that while living the dream of playing college golf. Concentration, dedication, sportsmanship, perseverance, resiliency, competition and pure love is what golf is to me. I carry that over to school and life and I know it will make a difference in my life, my school, and my community! I love playing golf both recreationally and competitively. I love the smell of the fresh cut grass in the mornings and the sound of the club striking the golf ball as I am teeing off. I cannot imagine life without golf and I look forward to building my skills to compete at the college level. Golf is more than a game to me it is part of my life. I love the interaction with those that I am playing with; I love to support those around me pushing them to a higher level which only helps me work on pushing myself. I am dedicated to work hard these next three years so I can be strong enough and good enough to succeed in school and succeed in your college golf program. This is my dream and I will do anything to reach it.
