Personal Statement
My name is Max Lightwood, I have dreamt of skating at the collegiate level ever since I went to my first college hockey game. The excitement and electricity made me want to join a college team and to have a community of people rally around the team and support the athletes. One thing that I believe separates me from my peers is my work ethic and determination to be the best. I work hard everyday to improve my skillset and gain an edge on other players. I am a two-way defenseman with a hard accurate shot which I shoot between screens producing pucks on net and scoring chances off the rebound. I jump into the rush when I can and produce scoring chances when I lead the rush. On the defense end I battle hard in the corners and win the majority with my size and strength. Once I have control the puck I make clean, crisp, and hard passes to the wing or center. I believe that academics and character are big factors in choosing a player for a team. I value hard work in the classroom as well as on the ice or in the gym. Being a hockey player is a lifestyle and I proudly embrace it. I have a high hockey IQ and play a selfless game putting the team in front of myself. I am a coachable, dedicated, and determined player.
